The Post-Graduate Program in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine (PPG-IMT), School of Medicine, Federal University of Minas Gerais, was established in 1972 and approved by the Coordination of Higher Education Personnel Improvement (CAPES) in 1974. During its 43 years of existence, the PPG-IMT formed approximately 250 masters and 200 doctors. In the last CAPES evaluation, the Program received the concept 6 (ranging from 1 to 7) of CAPES, thus remaining among the top Brazilian Post-Graduation Programs, highlighted by its excellence scientific production with high international impact.
