PRESENTATION

The third French Brazilian Symposium on Hearing (FBSH) follows the first two congresses held in 2019 and 2018 at UFMG in Belo Horizonte. Due to the Covid-19 pandemics, this 3rd FBSH, initially scheduled in November 2020 and now moved to September 10 and 11, 2021, will be virtual. Since the beginning, the main objective of FBSHs is to give overviews of subjects going from research to clinical practice. In 2021, the organizing committee has chosen to highlight two topics of importance for clinicians, audiologists and researchers. The first of these topics is balance, its exploration in adults and in the particular situation of cochlear implants. The second topic deals with intense sound and noise, a matter of high concern for the World Health Organization according to which more than a billion people will be affected by 2050. Their detrimental effects on auditory health and on speech detection will be updated, together with the specific aspects of diverse types of intense sounds.

The presentations, given by internationally renowned lecturers, will be in English with simultaneous translation to Portuguese on the webinar platform, or vice-versa. Online questions submitted by the chat tools will be sorted and if necessary, translated by session moderators to feed the discussion after each conference. Time slots will be devoted to sponsors who will hold workshops presenting research data, case studies and products.

Do not miss this opportunity to enlarge your knowledge and keep abreast with the latest concepts in clinical audiology, see you next September!
